Partner type: Food donor

Our newest large donor. Performance Food Group signed its SB 1383 agreement with Daily Bowl in July 2026, during the three biggest months in our history.

Palo Alto Foods joined our donor network during the pandemic. In January 2021 it gave Daily Bowl its largest single donor-month outside the USDA box program: 69,709 pounds.

Sysco began donating in 2022 and became one of our largest sources of food from October 2023. Broadline distributors move enormous volume, and a small fraction of surplus at that scale fills a Daily Bowl van.

Kaiser Permanente Fremont made its first meal donation on December 20, 2016, which makes it Daily Bowl’s longest continuous partner. Prepared meals from the hospital kitchen that would otherwise be discarded reach our agencies the same day.

In January 2020 the hospital became a “zero food waste” facility with Daily Bowl’s help, and the protocols worked out in Fremont have since been adopted by hospitals across California. Kaiser Permanente has also supported our work with grants since 2019.

Vesta Foodservice came to Daily Bowl in the first weeks of the pandemic, distributing USDA Farmers to Families boxes through our network when demand had tripled overnight. The partnership never stopped.

Vesta has been our number-one food donor in 2023, 2025 and 2026, and a sponsor of our tenth-anniversary celebration.

Daylight Foods, a premier produce distributor in Northern California, has been Daily Bowl’s single largest food donor in most years since 2018. Cases of produce that cannot be sold — perfectly good, simply surplus — leave Daylight’s Milpitas dock on our vans several times a week.

In 2022 StopWaste honored the two organizations together with its Efficiency Award for excellence in food recovery collaboration. Two Daylight executives have served on Daily Bowl’s board.
