Give Food

If your business has surplus food, we will come and get it. Grocers, wholesalers, distributors, farms, hospitals, schools, caterers and restaurant kitchens across the Bay Area already donate to Daily Bowl.

What we take

  • Fresh produce, from a case to a pallet
  • Groceries and packaged goods
  • Prepared meals from professional kitchens
  • Bakery, dairy and protein

What we cannot take

  • Food from private households
  • Potluck or home-cooked dishes
  • Anything past its safe date
  • Food that has been served

Health codes, not preference: we can only accept food handled in a licensed or institutional kitchen.

SB 1383 and the paperwork

California’s SB 1383 requires large food businesses to donate their edible surplus rather than throw it away, and to keep records of who they donate to. Daily Bowl is a recognized food recovery organization: we sign the agreement the law asks for, weigh every pickup, and give you the records your jurisdiction needs.

Questions first? Email [email protected] and we will walk you through it.
